To me, travelling somewhere is always part of the adventure. There's a TV advert for British Airways where someone climbs into a bed in Times Square in New York, the picture fades to black, and then fades up as the person climbs out of bed in Picadilly Circus (or something like that anyway). Well, to me that means he's missed an important chunk of his trip - the getting there. I love airports; I love plane journeys. I love getting on a train; I even like waiting for trains (if there's a fair chance they're actually going to turn up).

I think part of my enjoyment of these things, too, is the fact that I love looking at maps: I can lose literally hours when I have a map book or an atlas in front of me. The possibilities, the sense of adventure, the unexplored; but also the prospect of the two-dimensional resolving into three dimensions, the theory into practice, the plan becoming reality.

So have a look through a few adventures I'd like to have (well, more than that, they are things I am or will be planning to do before I die), and some I've already had...
